Outreach

Jesus came to minister to the needs of all mankind. He took the time to help those who were in need, physically, emotionally and spiritually. In Matthew 25:40 He was quoted as saying, "...Assuredly, I say to you, in as much as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." He also told us, Mark 16:15, to "go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation."

It is our desire to follow Jesus' examples. Trinity's purpose is to minister to the hopeless, the hurting, and the hungry in our area -- the people of the Upper Cumberland.

Takin' It To the Streets

"Takin' It To the Streets" is an Evangelism Ministry that allows us to bring the Word of God to areas that would otherwise be hard to reach. In Luke 14:23, Jesus said, "Go forth into the highways and byways and compel them to come." During the summer months we take the Gospel to where the people are -- into their communities and out to their streets.

Using our 24-foot Ministry Truck, with its fully functioning stage and sound system, our Evangelism Team will head out for the streets. The people who come will hear some outstanding music and the precious Word of God. Our Christian Bands and Drama Teams always draw a crowd, and as the Word is presented, the Holy Spirit will move to set the captive free!

We have seen children, teenagers, and adults come to know Christ during these events. And, as we continue to take the Gospel of Jesus to the streets, Trinity's vision to reach "the hopeless, the hurting, and the hungry" will truly being accomplished.

Outreach Center

Jesus came to minister to the needs of all mankind. He took the time to help those who were in need, physically, emotionally and spiritually. In Matthew 25:40 He was quoted as saying, "...Assuredly, I say to you, in as much as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." At Trinity we desire to follow Jesus' example. Our Outreach Center is one of the ways that we minister to hopeless, hurting, and hungry people.

In 1990 God placed a desire in Pastor Turner's heart to help people who were in need financially and physically as well as spiritually. Trinity rented a small building located across the street from its facilities in February of 1991. The Outreach Center began as an emergency center that was open for a few hours, three days a week. The supplies were meager, but the volunteers hearts were generous. Just as we provided for the needs of others, God provided the Outreach Center's needs. The Wilmoth family which owned the building we had been renting for several years, donated it to the cause. In 1998 we began an expansion to the building to fill a growing need for this ministry.

As more and more people were touched by the Outreach Center's help the word spread. Soon as government agencies would run out of funds they would send their clients to our center. But God was always faithful to provide. The Trinity Outreach Center has been the recipient of both the Tennessee Tech and Algood Postal Food drives, and many other generous donations from the congregation and community.

Each year the congregation of Trinity supply Christmas gifts for hundreds of children in our area through the Outreach Center. Without the Outreach Center's help many of these children would receive nothing for Christmas. Food for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner are also made available to families by Trinity's Outreach Center and congregation during each holiday season.

Under the direction of Kevin and April Frieze today the Trinity Outreach Center is open four days a week with full staff of volunteers. Offering food, clothing and other financial help the center has helped thousands of families in our area. Hundreds have come to know Jesus as their personal savior, and many have joined the Trinity congregation. Our vision is still the same as it was 10 years ago, to follow Jesus' lead and minister to the hopeless, hurting, and hungry.

Outreach Center Hours: Monday - Thursday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Servant Evangelism

Servant Evangelism reaches out to people in the community by going to them instead of bringing them to church. This team of volunteers honors Jesus by obeying His last words before His ascension: Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere. Mark 16:15.

They accomplish this mission by going to businesses and giving out bottled water, cold or hot drinks. They wash windows. They give $2.00-off coupons. They give quarters at laundry mats. They look for creative ways to bless someone by serving them, for this creates opportunities to share the Gospel. They stop and ask the recipients of their gifts if they have a need in their life for which they would like prayer. If they agree, then the Servant Evangelism member prays for them right then, short and sweet. Afterwards, the members meet back at the church to discuss their blessing. As leader Larry Pratt says, "We give and serve to someone else, and we get blessed! It's a good, fun, time and a great way to get acquainted."

Nursing Home

The Nursing Home Ministry reaches out to the residents of the different nursing homes in our area. Members from Trinity go to the different nursing homes and minister there through leading worship, sharing God's word, and showing God's love. Patients that are allowed outside access are taken on field trips to shop or sight-see.

All patients in the nursing homes we visit are welcome to attend the sessions. Nursing homes are usually visited on a one or two week rotation.

Through this ministry, Trinity hopes to be able to share God's word and touch the lives of those who are hopeless, hurting, and hungry.

Christmas Outreach Dinner

The Christmas Outreach Dinner is an outreach to help those in the community that are homebound or do not have the finances to have a hot meal at Christmas time. It does not matter the situation the person is in; what does matter is reaching out to people who need food, prayer and fellowship.

Those involved in the Christmas Outreach Dinner meet at Trinity Place for food preparation and organization and then deliver the meals, the love of the Lord and the message of salvation to all they meet. Preparation for this ministry begins in November with prayer for God's guidance to reveal those in need. This group is currently looking at doing other outreach visitations in the future.

Shield Bearer

The Military Family Ministry, called Shield Bearer Ministries, is to serve our deployed soldiers and their families that are still here. The purpose is to meet the needs of the families here so that the soldiers do not have to worry about their well-being. Those involved with this ministry meet with the families quarterly for a luncheon served to them at Trinity Place and send care packages to the soldiers that include goodies from home as well as DVD's of church services. As needs arrive with the families around their homes, this group provides support for repairs as well as child care so moms can have a night out.

Our soldiers are answering their call to duty in the Middle East and around the world; it is our responsibility to care for them and their families until each of them returns home.

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him." Psalm 28:7
